King is drawn to another king. As soon as heard of the battle for the largest and most destructive monster in Japan, he set out for a long journey. It took him a long time, because he had to rest between long swimming. However, he grew even more muscles, than he previously had from the ordinary swinging on the trees. Swimming is simply a great fitness. Now he finally arrived and fighting for Tokyo is starting all over again.

Some skyscrapers are still standing. After the last duel of monsters, they are completely depopulated. All the inhabitants learned their lesson. But we will go upstream and throw ourselves at the center of the action with a new small box, that serves as an expansion for board game. It’s a box compatible with the new edition of the game and its author is, of course, designer . The game comes under the auspices of , which provided it with us for testing.

The small box is transparent from the front, so we can properly inspect angry Kong without having to open it. Together with the cardboard figure and its plastic stand, there is also a counter of lives and victory points in the classic form of a plate with two rotating circles. Here, nothing can surprise us – players can choose a new character, that at first glance is just about a picture.

But it is clear, that it’s not everything. Kong also has its evolution cards, which we already know from the past Halloween expansion. This time, there is a two sided beauty card, that is linked to one of the cards of evolution. If a player looking as Kong holds it in the right moment, then he can use its powers and use get extra die. But only until one of his rivals hurts him. With the hit, he will also get a human bride in his possession. But it does not add other bonuses to other players, it only prevents Kong from using this ability.

But that’s not the main element, that will drive you to your seats in this small box. There are also four cardboard plates and its contents will players use to build two buildings: Tokyo Tower for King of Tokyo and Empire State Building for King of New York.

Players must roll four or more ones on their dice and they can take the first level of three of that given tower. It can be stolen by any of the opponents at any time, he just simply has to roll the same set of ones at any time in his turn. But in order for a player to claim part of the building, he must also be in the center of the city.

What is such a building for? The players add some icons every turn, that they can add to their throw. And that’s a great bonus, that can be decisive in many situations and battles.

The content of the box enriches the game with such crumbs and cherries, that will be appreciated by experienced players. But these details can be moments, that these players can use to break the match in their favor. The game does not suffer from the point of view in the length, complexity or increase of the luck impact. The number of players is particularly important here, if one of the players chooses the King Kong role. At that point, more opponents can more effectively steal his bride.

Processing does not disappoint in the slightest. There are beautiful large cardboard buildings, but above all new illustrations. They all fit into the overall impression of any of the two King games.

King Kong is a great companion. Just like Wreck It Ralph, he too likes to smash everything with his hairy fists. Players will surely be looking forward to being dressed in his skin and enjoy their favorite game a little differently. The new Monster Pack is just a small enrichment, but the box is not pricey and the owners of Tokyo will surely be happy about it.

Review: King of Tokyo – King Kong Monster Pack – monkey destroyer
Final word
King of Tokyo: King Kong Monster Pack is a small expansion, that adds one new character, its new skills and also one bride. Players can drag for it and steal her from Kong, so he does not have the advantage of one extra dice. The newest thing, however, are the new buildings, that monsters steal from the city center for themselves to have a better combination of dice in their turn. King Kong Monster Pack is just a small addition but still very solid.
